We have exciting news!! Semper Stylish has found a retail space to offer our great stuff. For awhile now, we have been discussing finding a “home” for our growing business and looking at a few places. Well, last week, as we were wandering around the Del Ray section of Alexandria we happened upon Eclectic Nature, a cute store full of beautiful and unusual things for home and garden. It is housed in an old home on Mt. Vernon Avenue.
The previous renter for the “dining room” of this house had recently moved, so the 10’x10′ space was available. After thinking about it overnight, we decided to go for it. With this decision made we started making plans for what “our shop” would look like. The room was painted purple with ladybugs and flowers, and a thousand nail holes covered the walls. We knew the purple paint color would have to change.
Janice’s friend Joanie advised us to stick to a neutral color on the walls. We chose Benjamin Moore’s Gray Owl – their best selling gray. Karen spent Tuesday patching all those nail holes, prepping, and painting the room.
The gray walls really made the room very classy and neutral – the perfect backdrop for our painted furniture:
We spent Wednesday moving in. Many thanks to our friend Karen Shaw who helped us with our first load.
After unpacking, the room seemed a lot smaller!
We worked hard Wednesday and Thursday continuing the move, finalizing inventory, and merchandising. Everyone had a specialty – Janice’s mom Polly (visiting from Florida) took over labeling & pricing, Karen worked the computer recording inventory, and Janice made the space look awesome.
With all that had to be done to get ready for the weekend, we were not thinking about food. Many thanks to our friend Katherine who stopped by, saw how famished we were, and went out to get us sandwiches and sodas. We still have some work to do, but here are pictures of our shop as it looked Thursday afternoon.
We are very excited about our new space – please stop by if you are in the area. Eclectic Nature is located at 1503 Mount Vernon Avenue in the Del Ray section of Alexandria. We will be continuing to merchandize and setup for Christmas in the next few weeks.
