We knew we wanted some kind of signage for the Luckett’s Spring Market and had a few ideas, but hadn’t committed to anything until we saw this at a local warehouse sale last weekend-

In addition to the large size (4.75ft long by 2 ft wide) and being light weight, we liked the dark background and felt we could easily transform it using paint and stencils.   So, we fired up the Cameo Silhouette and with some trial and error, chose a font, letter size, and layout we liked (Engravers MT).  We printed the letters on copy paper first.

Not real happy with this look – glad we worked with copy paper cut-outs first.  The blue border is just painters tape as we hadn’t yet repainted the background.  We kept the original border color.

After repainting the background a grayish black, we rolled out the name with a layer of Kilz, then stenciled two different colors of paint to give the letters an aged look.

Here is the final result.  We love the way it came out.  There is a little room left for a logo and web address in the future.

In addition to admiring the sign, I know you are all ohhing and ahhing over the gorgeous Azalea bush in full bloom behind the sign.  Spring is the prettiest time of the year for my garden.  Here are a few more pictures of my garden, in all it’s glory, bursting in color.

Did you notice the bumblebee in the middle of the above picture?

Thank you for joining us.  40 days to Luckett’s Spring Market.
